POSITION OVERVIEW
Mikell Camp and Conference Center is seeking a dedicated, hands-on Facilities Director to oversee the care, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our camp and conference facilities. Nestled in the Northeast Georgia mountains, Mikell serves churches, schools, nonprofits, and retreat groups year-round.
The Facilities Director plays a vital leadership role in ensuring that buildings, grounds, utilities, and infrastructure are safe, welcoming, and fully operational to support our mission of hospitality, spiritual formation, and community engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilities & Grounds Management
- Oversee maintenance and repair of all buildings, cabins, lodges, meeting spaces, and common areas
- Manage utilities systems (water, electrical, HVAC, septic, etc.)
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
- Maintain roads, trails, landscaping, and outdoor recreation areas
- Ensure well maintained spaces, safety, and functionality across campus
Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise and schedule 1-2 part time maintenance staff and volunteers
- Coordinate outside contractors and service providers
- Provide hands-on support for repairs and improvement projects
- Promote a culture of safety, stewardship, and excellence
Project & Budget Oversight
- Develop and manage facilities and maintenance budget
- Obtain bids and oversee capital improvement projects
- Monitor supply inventory and control costs
- Identify long-term infrastructure needs and recommend improvements
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Maintain safety protocols and emergency response procedures
- Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in facilities management, property management, construction, or related field
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general construction
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
- Valid driver’s license

Familiarity with rural infrastructure systems
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary: $43,000 per year
Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance: Employer-paid individual coverage
Family Medical Coverage: Available at employee’s expense
Retirement Contribution: 15% employer contribution
Accruing PTO based on tenure with the company, 40 hours of sick time, and 12 paid holidays
